Consumer Research Council Names Summit Medical Group Doctors "America's Top Cardiologists"

Berkeley Heights, NJ (Vocus) January 13, 2010 -- Seven Summit Medical Group cardiologists have been recently listed among “America’s Top Cardiologists” by the Consumer Research Council of America:

Andrew Beamer, M.D., F.A.C.C.: Dr. Beamer received his B.S. from Duke University, Durham, N.C., and his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Baltimore, Md. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The Johns Hopkins Hospital and fellowships in cardiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Boston, Mass., Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass., and in internal medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Dr. Beamer is board certified in echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine.

Andrew Greene, M.D., F.A.C.C.: Dr. Greene received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, Pa., and earned his M.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine, at Temple University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa., and a fellowship in cardiology at Hahnemann University Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. Dr. Green is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine.

Avinash Kothavale, M.D.: Dr. Kothavale received his B.S. from Stanford University, Stanford, Calif., and earned his M.D. at Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his residency at University of California in San Francisco, San Francisco, Calif. He also completed fellowships in cardiovascular diseases at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center/Harvard Medical School, Boston, Mass., and in Level 3 Echocardiography at the University of California in San Francisco. Dr. Kothavale is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular diseases, nuclear cardiology and echocardiography.

R. Gregory Sachs, M.D., F.A.C.C.: Dr. Sachs received his A.B. from Georgetown University, Washington, District of Columbia, and earned his M.D. from Georgetown University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital and fellowships in cardiology with the Institute of Cardiology, London, England, and Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Ga. Dr. Sachs is board certified in internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases.

Daniel Schwartz, M.D., F.A.C.C.: Dr. Schwartz received his B.A. from Hamilton College, Clinton, N.Y., and earned his M.D. from Washington University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Miss. He completed his residency in internal medicine at The New York Hospital Cornell University Medical Center, New York, N.Y. He has also completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology at New York Medical College Westchester Medical Center, Valhalla, N.Y. Dr. Schwartz is board certified in internal medicine, cardiovascular computed tomography, interventional cardiology and cardiovascular disease.

Robert Slama, M.D., F.A.C.C.: Dr. Slama received his B.S. from Cornell University, New York, N.Y., and earned his M.D. at Temple University School of Medicine, Philadelphia, Pa. He completed residencies in internal medicine at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, District of Columbia, and Boston City Hospital, Boston, Mass. He also completed a fellowship in cardiology at Boston University Medical Center, Boston, Mass. Dr. Slama is board certified in internal medicine, nuclear cardiology, echocardiography and cardiovascular diseases.

William A. Tansey, III, M.D., F.A.C.C.: Dr. Tansey received his B.S. from Yale University, New Haven, Conn., and earned his M.D. at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, New York, N.Y. He completed his residency in internal medicine at St. Luke's Hospital Center, New York, N.Y. He has also completed a fellowship in cardiology at St. Luke's Hospital Center and fellowships with the American College of Cardiology, the American College of Physicians and the American Heart Association. Dr. Tansey is board certified in cardiovascular diseases and internal medicine.

The Consumer Research Council of America chooses physicians for this honor based on their years in practice, participation in training and continuing education opportunities, memberships in professional associations and board certification.
